TEKFALL SUPREME
What is TekFall
Tekfall Supreme is an experimental wrestling video as it is the first of this genre. The game focus on simulating true wrestling control/decision in fast pace than simply playing takedown animations. The design target is to deliver a real competitive experience.
What did I design
I iterated and re-design the combat system in the first month I joined the team. The old design was competitive enough as a fighting game but the representation of wrestling is obscure.
The first design that changes everything is stamina system. As wrestling is scoring base sport, dealing damage to hit point is definitely not a good design. But if every thing is based on action only, the progression of the game will be hard to track and there is some simulation missing. A stamina system not only constrained player action, represent as feedback as you “damage“ your opponent, but also simulate the process of making your opponent tired in real sports.
I also designed the faking system in which player can cancel their move to made their opponent make mistakes and lose more stamina, which eventually made them easier to takedown.
